A strange knitting coincidence happened today. I was doing a bit of yarn surfing on the internet (looking for exciting things to spoil my Secret Pal with) when I found an American site called Plain Mabel www.plainmabel.com which has some gorgeous gifts and a wonderful crafts section including some amazing looking textural yarn kits from a designer called Erica Weiner - the description is as follows:
"These eclectic skeins from Erica Weiner are made up of about 50 strands in a wide array of materials like traditional yarn, ribbon, and even measuring tape or rick-rack. Each one is based around a main color but includes various coordinating shades. Individual strands are about 120" long and can be unraveled and draped around your neck, knit into a scarf using the included instructions, or crafted in countless other ways. Skein may include: silk, cotton, wool, acrylic, hemp, metal, and other natural and man-made components."
By this time I was drooling and it was no good, I just HAD to have a skein of this wonderful stuff even though it was (gulp) $40 a skein - and she takes PayPal as well so it wasn't even like paying with real money! On the offchance I thought I'd check out Ebay in case there was any on there (probably the odds were about five million to one but worth a go) and there it was - one skein of Erica Weiner yarn ending in five hours at $26 and no bids. I put in my bid and five hours later it was mine. I emailed the seller and told her my story and got a lovely email back saying I was obviously meant to have that yarn. Don't you just love it when things like that happen?
And I have some ideas for Secret Pal gifts too.

What did you think of the Erica Weiner yarn? Have you tried working with it yet? Very interested in your comments! Which color did you get? Enjoying your blog!
Hi
No, I've not done anything with it yet. Just keep fondling it! I got the green which is lovely. Glad you are enjoying the blog - even though not much has been happening on it recently! Too much work to do.
